The Journal of Physiology sponsors symposia at major scientific meetings on topics in physiology that bring key researchers together to provide authoritative and state-of-the-art reviews of rapidly evolving fields. Reports from the symposia are published in symposium issues.

Reports from other symposia are also published, on the recommendation of Editors.

The Journal of Physiology commissions sets of special reviews on a theme by key researchers in emerging areas. The reviews are published in a special issue.
